About Pico

The Pico complex was founded in 2012 by Jerusalem entrepreneurs who wanted to bring about a change of "roots to the ground" in the city's economy. The rooms played a key role in the revival of the capital as a technology center.
PICO represents people, ideas, community and opportunity - four essential components of entrepreneurship, the same values that inspired the construction and design of the first PICO area in Jerusalem's Talpiot neighborhood.
The home of businesses, shops, warehouses, workshops, artists and restaurants in the Talpiot industrial area was a great place to build a well-established entrepreneurial community that values quality entrepreneurship as a cornerstone of social development. Dozens of early-stage companies and social organizations started out on PICO.
Pico also offers joint Coworking office space, PICO Jerusalem hosts meetings of entrepreneurs, social activists, artists and writers.

Fabric of our Lifes, on display at PICO Jerusalem from Dec. 16-31. \nA visual display of milestones required to bring yarn to woven life.\n\nThis piece was created using the numerics of three. \n3 yarn colors\n3 warp sections\n3 weaving shafts\n18 border threads\n96 sectional threads\n300 total threads in the warp\n\nThree colors of Cotton yarn, white, periwinkle, and a variegated blue, are displayed as a set of skeins and a weaving bobbin. All three of these yarns were spun to create a thick and thin effect. \nFrom the yarn a warp is created (The central larger piece). A warp is set of yarns prepared for weaving prior to the addition of weft. \nAn alternative definition is the next step in weaving, yarns placed on the loom, running longitudinally under tension. In order to create a woven piece, weft yarn, yarn which runs running horizontally, is woven into the warp. The sticks by which the warp is hanging is an intentional placement. They are the core safety, when the warp is in the process of placement on the loom, for keeping all three hundred threads in alignment. \nThe physical sample, (hanging on the dowel rod) is a mock-up of the warp integrated with the weft yarn using the palate and pattern with three shafts. A shaft is a frame that holds up with warp threads to allow the weft to travel over or under a particular string in a pattern. As you can see in this example, the same three yarns are used in both the warp (longitudinal) and weft (horizontal) directions. \nAfter the exhibition, this warp will be placed on loom to be woven into a shawl measuring 30 x 90” plus fringe.\n\nBlanketed in Love \nOur senses are the connectors to our brain and bodies, which allow the mundane of our world to come alive. The touch, smell, sight, and yes even taste and sound of a nature-based fibre and fabrics create a connective memory which can ignite the experience of the user. \nIt is often said that a blanket provides a sense of security. This blanket contains the natural fibers of wool and silk in both the warp and weft of the weave. It was Handwoven on a four shaft loom using twill and reverse twill patterning (repetitive pattern creating a diagonal line). The unique transparency.
